We had a chance to talk to the France regionals final champion, Trick-c and Gaxalies from B3LA Gaming, as they shared their story and their experience at AORUS OPEN thus far.
How do you know each other?
We’ve been playing online tournaments together for quite a while, so basically we met online. The AORUS OPEN provided us an opportunity to take us from online to offline. This is the first time we actually met each other in person, thanks to the tournament.
How long have you been playing PUBG?
We’ve been playing the game for almost 2 years, but just for 4 to 5 months competitively.
First time playing in a tournament?
No, this is not our first time playing in a tournament. One of us participated a tournament in Gamescom, and Trick-c also played in a LAN tournament in France as well.
Why did you to participate in AORUS OPEN?
We do not play duo often, but we tried that before in the GLL finals. It did change our game routine from playing squad, but we played pretty well together as duo. We've got good in-game chemistry, so we thought we would give it another try by joining AORUS OPEN.
Are you familiar with CQB?
We were not so familiar with the CQB until we learned about the AORUS tournament. We managed to play 20 to 30 games with some of the guys who are also in this tournament, just to see what it is about, and we are just starting to dig deeper and try to understand more about the mode.
What do you think of the point system that rewards kills heavily?
We think this point system is pretty cool. It differentiates from other tournaments. We could try something different with this mode, which is going to be a lot of fun for sure.
What do you think of your performance in the regional finals?
Coming to the LAN tournament, we did not have a particular strategy except staying flexible and being able to adapt to the situation quickly. We are satisfied with the result because we just won a tough battle. These guys are super good. We were glad the stuff we trained before worked out, which makes us very happy.
You will represent France to play in the grand final coming up in late October at Paris Games Week. Your thoughts?
We are going to train even harder for the grand final; plus we will be playing at home, giving us a huge home court advantage, that is for sure. So guys from other regions, be ready!
